This new scam is using vanity of crypto bloggers to promote itself. In short – it’s a fake ICO, has nothing to do with WalMart, the domains are freshly registered and you should stay away from such scams.
On October 9-10 2018 many cryptocurrency blogs and news sites (including CoinVigilance) got an email that contained an “exclusive” press release for immediate distribution.
The e-mail said the press release is going to their blog only and won’t be featured in major media. That felt flattering and a lot of sites have published it.
Here’s what the scame-mail read:
From: Roger Adelmann <[email protected]>
Subject: Walmart Leafy Token DistributionMessage Body:
GreetingsThis information is intended for immediate release upon receipt.
You have been selected to receive the Walmart Leafy press release in order to broaden our range of distribution to the media. Our natural press outlets do not include cryptocurrency websites.
Walmart Inc. will integrate WalmartLeafy.com blockchain technology for suppliers of fresh produce starting in 2019 to reduce ecoli outbreaks and keep our customers safer. Suppliers will also transition ecommerce payments from cash to digital on the Ethereum network in the form of ERC20 Tokens.
